SNIPR Biome Receives Funding to Develop CRISPR-Based EED Treatment

SNIPR Biome, a trailblazer in the development of CRISPR-Cas armed phages for the prevention and treatment of bacterial infections, has secured funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The grant will support the company’s groundbreaking work on a novel microbiome-directed intervention aimed at improving environmental enteric dysfunction (EED) in pregnant women from low- and middle-income countries.

The innovative approach seeks to reduce the gut entero-pathogen burden, which is a significant contributor to EED. By harnessing the power of CRISPR-Cas technology and phage therapy, SNIPR Biome is poised to make a substantial impact on the health and well-being of pregnant women and their offspring in underserved communities worldwide.
